“Kieran came home buzzing with enthusiasm about the visit to the farm and has really been enjoying his time at Project Food. He is now cooking at home regularly and I have started to buy the ingredients for him to cook from scratch.”
Mum of an Axe Valley Academy student
Parents are telling us that they care passionately about feeding their children well, but often they just don’t know where to start. They not only lack knowledge about food, and how to prepare it, but they also struggle to afford the kinds of nutritious food their children need to develop healthily.
Similarly adults whose health is negatively affected by the food they eat, need support to improve their diets now so that they can be healthier as soon as possible.
After an extensive consultation, Project Food has decided to focus our work on children from low income families (and their parents) and people with diet related ill health living on low incomes, as we think these are the groups that we can have the biggest impact on.
If you know anyone who might benefit from support to eat better, please do tell them about Project Food: we think we can make a real difference to their lives:
“I look forward to my weekly visit to Project Food: they are so welcoming and kind and we always cook delicious food together that I can then do again at home with the ingredients I take away with me. I particularly liked the stir-fry and would never have thought of doing that before: it is so easy, healthy and delicious! The sessions not only help me to eat better, but they also make me feel better about myself. If you can get to a session give it a go, you won’t regret it.” Jane*, who attends Cooking with Confidence.
I hope you enjoy reading Project Food’s latest newsletter which highlights some more of the work that we have been doing over the last year.
We want to support more people like Kieran and Jane.
With your help we can.
