Project Food volunteer Carole and her husband Jeff are taking on an epic 630-mile trek to raise money for Project Food and Dementia UK.
Jeff has always dreamed of completing the Coastal Path in one continuous journey, despite having walked parts of it before. What better time to achieve this goal than now, as they settle in Devon for retirement?
The Southwest coast path spans 630 miles, starting from Minehead Somerset, around Lands’ End, and ending in Poole, Dorset, involving a total climb of 115,000 feet, equivalent to scaling Everest four times.
Their journey will commence on Friday, May 3rd, giving them until the end of June to finish it. Carole will be walking part of the way and dropping Jeff off in the mornings, then picking him up at his evening endpoint.
They have decided to combine their walk with fundraising for charity and will be raising money for 2 organisations.
Carole said “Project Food, a local charity in Axminster that supports people to build confidence and improve skills in the kitchen so that they can improve their mental and physical health, is a cause I deeply care about, and I am proud to be a part of their volunteer team.”
This Local Giving page will donate directly to Project Food.
The other charity they will be supporting is Dementia UK is a cause close to our hearts, as Carole’s dear father and others we knew suffered from it. If you would like to make your donation to Dementia UK, please email me carole.wolf@hotmail.co.uk for more information.
We plan to share updates and photos along the way and appreciate any donations get us to our fundraising target.
